# Units and fiat

> Show every amount in Gerfaut in BTC or in sats, and add its fiat value in one of 30 currencies, with the price from mempool.space or CoinGecko.

Pick one unit for every amount, and add its fiat value if you want it. Open **Settings** > **General** and find the `Display` card.

## Switch between BTC and sats

Under `Unit`, select `BTC` (eight decimals, the default) or `sats`.

## Show the fiat value

> [!WARNING]
>
> The price source sees your IP address with each price request. The request carries no wallet data. See [what the price source sees](/docs/help/faq#what-does-the-price-source-see) for when Gerfaut asks, and how Tor changes it.

**1. Select the Fiat value switch**

Amounts gain a second line with their fiat value, except the inputs, the outputs and the fee of a transaction. The fiat value is off by default.

**2. Select the currency**

Under `Currency`, the seven currencies of `Every source` work with both price sources, EUR by default. The 23 others, under `CoinGecko only`, switch the source to CoinGecko with a line that says why, such as `CoinGecko is the only source that quotes INR.` Selecting one of the seven again keeps CoinGecko until you select `mempool.space`.

**3. Select the price source**

Under `Price source`, keep `mempool.space`, the default, or select `CoinGecko`. With [`Automatic`](/docs/settings/backends-and-your-own-node#use-the-public-servers), mempool.space is one of the public servers Gerfaut syncs with on mainnet.

**4. Check the rate**

A line reads `1 BTC =` with the rate and the time of the last update. When the source does not answer, amounts show without fiat until it does.

**Android**

**Desktop**

With CoinGecko as the source, `Powered by CoinGecko` shows once at the bottom of each screen with a price or a fiat amount from CoinGecko. Select it to open CoinGecko's site in your browser. The Android `Bitcoin price` widget shows it too. With mempool.space, nothing shows.

A wallet on a test network, such as signet or testnet4, shows a fiat value of 0, because test coins are worth nothing.
